In 1974, Tom Sett & John Sells embarked on a business venture and established a locally owned, full service dealership of Océ and ICP liquid toner, thermal transfer copiers serving the Greater Milwaukee Metropolitan Area. Located at Mayfair Road and Burleigh Street, Office Copying Equipment, Ltd. was launched. In 1975, Sharp Electronics introduced a full line of dry toner and plain paper copiers. Office Copying Equipment, Ltd. became Wisconsin’s First Authorized Sharp Copier Dealer. With 5 successful years of marketing and servicing Sharp Copiers in the metro area, an office expansion and move to 124th & Capitol Drive was necessary. In 1986, another expansion of that facility was needed to support the introduction of Sharp’s thermal and plain paper facsimile systems. To accommodate an expanding client base, 1993 brought another move to a larger office space on 124th & Hampton Avenue in Milwaukee.

With the launch of network connectable Sharp devices, Office Copying Equipment, Ltd. established a Professional Services department to directly support any information technology needs related to integration of Sharp products within a customer’s network. 1998 marked another milestone with the next move and facility expansion. A brand new building was configured and constructed to exact specifications which allowed all departments ample space for staff, resources and room for growth. Centrally located within the metro area, the property on 113th Street south of Greenfield Avenue was chosen. In 2003, John Sells retired and Tom Sett moved into the President and sole dealership owner role.

To satisfy additional client needs, Managed Print Services was crafted. Service staff updated skill sets to allow for servicing of laser printers and administration tools for service monitoring and supply fulfillment were implemented. The evolution of Sharp copiers to multi-function products brought Sharp’s Open Systems Architecture platform. This ability for Sharp MFP front panel connectivity to software and cloud applications was a perfect fit for Office Copying Equipment’s Professional Services department support structure. Joining Sharp’s Authorized Integrator Program in 2007 and supporting a wide variety of applications in customer’s offices has proved to build great partner relationships with clients. Rounding out the product offerings is the Sharp Aquos Board®. This interactive display system combines Sharp LED-LCD screen technology, software and responsive touch pens for collaboration and communication.

Office Copying Equipment, Ltd. has evolved from its legacy products of stand alone copiers and facsimile into a premier document technology solutions and integration provider.
